W&M Construction Corp. was founded in 1987 as an affiliate of W&M Properties. Wholly owned by its Co-Chairman, Peter L. Malkin, and its Co-Chairman, Anthony E. Malkin, and founded by Lawrence A. Wien and Peter L. Malkin in 1965, W&M Properties and its affiliates represent four generations of one family's involvement as owners and operators of real estate and fiduciaries for partnerships and financial institutions involved with real estate.
Tenant satisfaction and profitable property operation require quality and timely delivery of construction management, general contracting services and control of costs. To avoid the uncertainties of the marketplace and serve the needs of its own properties (Peter L. Malkin is general partner of over 20MM square feet of office, showroom, residential, and retail property), W&M Properties recruited a team led by Thomas P. Durels, Chief Executive Officer, to become the core of W&M Construction.
Drawing upon the Malkin family experience as building owners/operators for over sixty years, W&M Construction Corp. provides a unique understanding of the needs of tenants, owners, architects, building managers and marketing agents and saves time and expense through skillful project management. As a result, W&M Construction Corp. receives most of its new work by referral from satisfied tenants, owners, and architects.
